Our Methodology

Every comparison site in this category publishes ratings. Almost none say where the ratings came from. Here is exactly how Sexya works today: we compare AI companion platforms from public information — their official sites, terms of service, privacy policies, pricing pages and advertised features. We have not run hands-on tests, and we don’t pretend otherwise.

What we compare

Every platform is described on the same six criteria, so that two pages can be read side by side. These are the questions that decide whether someone is still using a platform a month later, which is not the same as what a feature list emphasises.

• Natural conversation — the chat modes, roleplay options and content rules each platform documents.
• Memory & personalization — what the platform says it remembers, and whether memory is presented as a free or a paid feature. See how AI companions remember.
• Personality — the character options, presets and customisation the platform offers.
• Image generation — the styles, limits and credit costs the platform publishes.
• Interface & mobile — whether there is an app, a browser version, or both, and what each one offers.
• Price & value — subscription tiers, credits and renewal terms as published. On metered platforms the advertised subscription is a floor, and the gap is the point.

Our sources

Official websites and help pages, terms of service, privacy policies and pricing pages, read at the date shown on each page. Where a platform’s own pages contradict each other, we say so rather than pick the more flattering figure. Where information is not public, we write that it is not public.

What we read in the terms

• Billing. What the terms and help pages say about how charges appear and how renewal works.
• Cancellation. The cancellation path the platform documents.
• Account deletion. Whether the terms describe self-service deletion and what happens to your data.

How we handle money

Sexya earns a commission when someone subscribes through our links. That’s the business, and pretending otherwise would be the first dishonest thing on the site.

Commission rates differ between platforms and play no part in how a platform is described. A platform we earn nothing from is compared on the same criteria. Most “top ten” lists in this category are assembled from other lists and affiliate programmes, which is why they contradict each other on facts as basic as what a credit costs. Full disclosure here.

Where we are right now

The platforms we cover are listed on the homepage, with no scores on them. Each comparison page says what the public information shows, and when it was read. If a platform changes its features, pricing or terms, we update the page.
